SENIOR ANALYST ROLE DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Asymmetry Group is a small yet rapidly growing strategy consulting firm – included for the second year in a row on the 2024 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the US – that helps the world’s leading biotechnology, digital health, and medical device companies commercialize innovative therapeutics and technologies. Our clients range from early-stage Series A companies to $100B+ market cap biopharmaceutical companies. We are proud that all of the clients we serve have requested follow-on work. We cannot achieve this without an amazing team.
We’re seeking a full time Senior Analyst to support current and future client work as well as internal initiatives to continue developing our firm. Depending on the day, week, or month, you might be helping manage the launch of a new rare disease product, developing a commercial plan to support a breakthrough Phase 3 asset, or engaging with the leadership team of a digital health company on how to differentiate their offer in the market. We’re looking for a highly motivated, proactive doer who is passionate about healthcare. There will be some travel – but it’s generally limited and much of our work is local to Boston or conducted remotely.
What Can We Offer You?
- Meaningful Work: We deliver high-quality, pragmatic work to the most innovative healthcare companies out there – we choose to work with clients that we truly believe have the potential to bring real advances to healthcare and avoid projects that are misaligned with our passion for ethical change
- Strong Team & Culture: We foster a small, collegial organization that takes the best characteristics of consulting to create a supportive culture – we work hard and ensure our team members can integrate work & life in the way that matters most to them (e.g., hybrid work policy). Our incredible team is the backbone of what we do, and we are committed to creating a culture that supports them (and you!)
- Growth & Development: We strive to individualize team member development. All team members have different strengths and skill sets; we tailor career progression based on your specific interests and needs, and we recognize and promote on true merit rather than anchor to fixed time periods
- Strong Compensation: We offer industry-competitive salary and bonus, 401k, healthcare / dental / vision and a flexible time-off policy
Role Duties & Responsibilities:
Our day-to-day can involve a wide breadth of activities, roles & responsibilities can be fluid, and success will require a willingness and agility to learn quickly. The role will naturally evolve based on firm and client needs. However, the following are representative areas of responsibility where the Senior Analyst will play a key role:
- Supporting strategic client engagements including: secondary research, analysis / insight generation and Excel modeling, narrative storytelling through PowerPoint slides and Word memos, actively participating in client meetings and workshops, and leading portions of strategic workstreams.
- Supporting project management activities on behalf of clients: cross-functional launch support, milestone tracking, dashboard & report development, strategic workstream support, running individual client meetings, and ad-hoc support of strategic initiatives.
- Supporting internal initiatives, including thought leadership/article development, onboarding new members of the firm, planning internal lunch & learns, etc.
- Playing an integral team member role across all responsibilities, including proactive communication and coordination, ownership of tasks, and stewardship of Asymmetry’s culture.
Essential Qualifications:
- 1-3 years prior work experience at one of the major strategy consulting firms or smaller life sciences consulting firms
- Mastery of ‘technical’ consulting skills – developing client-ready storytelling slides in PowerPoint, creating usable and insight-generating Excel models, effectively utilizing SmartSheet or other software to track projects, delivering robust secondary research, attention to detail, etc.
- Familiarity with the life sciences industry
- Deep intellectual curiosity (constantly ask “why” – and then go figure it out)
- Able to work with ambiguity and proactively manage time across multiple projects
- Experience working effectively as part of a team
- Strong oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with clients through email, virtual meetings, and in-person engagements
- Exemplify the Asymmetry behaviors of showing up professionally, consistently demonstrating a growth mindset, assuming good intent of others, and making those around you better
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline – business, economics, biology, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates local to the Boston area and who can work from both the office and home (we have a hybrid work approach, with in-office work typically Tuesdays-Thursdays)
- Able to travel for client meetings in the greater Boston area, occasionally outside of the Boston area
Application Instructions: please send a resume/CV and a brief explanation of your interest in this role to careers (at) asymmetrygroup.com. Please note the role title in the subject line of your email.
